Northampton Town have secured the signing of midfielder Matt Dibley-Dias from Fulham on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old, who has yet to play for Fulham’s senior side, made two starts for their under-21s in last season’s EFL Trophy.
Dibley-Dias joins Sixfields alongside recent signings Tom Eames, Jack Baldwin, Callum Morton, Nik Tzanev, and James Wilson. Cobblers boss Jon Brady praised the new addition, stating, “Matt is good on the ball and he has a good engine. He is an athletic player who is mobile and can get about the pitch but can also handle the physical side of the game.”
Brady highlighted the competition for Dibley-Dias’ signature, noting, “He has had a choice of clubs this summer. I know there were at least half a dozen in for him, so we are very pleased he has chosen to come to Northampton Town. We are grateful to Fulham for believing we are the best place for him and for trusting us with another of their young players.”
He added, “I think the work we did with Kieron Bowie and our reputation for developing and improving players certainly counted in our favour.”
Northampton Town will kick off the new season with an away game against Bristol Rovers on August 10 as they aim to improve on last season’s 10th-place finish in League One.
