Nollywood Mourns as Makeup Artist Abigail Fredrick is Laid to Rest in Akwa Ibom

The Nollywood community bid farewell to one of its own as the late makeup artist Abigail Fredrick was laid to rest on Monday in her hometown of Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Fredrick, aged 24, tragically lost her life in a boat mishap on the River Niger last Wednesday, along with four other film crew members, including actor Junior Pope. Following her untimely passing, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, ensured her body was returned to her hometown for a proper burial after reports emerged that she had been buried by the riverbank.

The solemn funeral proceedings commenced with the exhumation of her body on Sunday, April 14, 2024, followed by a poignant candlelight procession held in her honor.

The funeral service, held at the Church of Christ in Ikot Udoma, was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Eket Transition Committee Chairman, Akaniyene Tommey; Commissioner for Tourism, Charles Udoh; and SA on Entertainment, Moses Eskor, among others. The gathering also saw the presence of members of the Nollywood community, friends, and sympathizers, including renowned actress Eve Esin.
