Nigeria’s Men’s Handball Team Secures Semifinal Berth at African Games

Nigeria’s men’s handball team, affectionately known as the Golden Arrows, showcased their dominance on the court by defeating their Malian counterparts 30-18 in a resounding victory during the ongoing African Games in Ghana. This triumph secured their place in the semifinals of the tournament, further solidifying their aspirations for medal glory.

The Golden Arrows commenced their campaign with an impressive performance, overpowering Togo with a convincing 38-19 win in their opening match. Coach Solomon Yola expressed confidence in his team’s capabilities, affirming their determination to clinch a podium finish in the competition.

Speaking to NAN, Coach Yola emphasized the team’s unwavering commitment to success, stating, “The boys are here (Ghana) for a serious business, they want to pick a medal at the end of the competition.” He underscored their readiness to face any opponent in the semifinals and expressed optimism about reaching the final match.

With their eyes set on the ultimate prize, Coach Yola reiterated the team’s resolve to seize victory in the final, asserting, “My players have all it takes to win the final match and that is our target.”

The 13th African Games, which commenced on March 8 and is scheduled to conclude on March 23, serves as a platform for African nations to showcase their sporting prowess across various disciplines. Nigeria’s men’s handball team’s stellar performance underscores their determination to excel on the continental stage, as they strive to bring honor and recognition to their nation.
