Nigerian Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Rescue Hostages, and Seize Weapons Nationwide

In a week-long operation spanning various regions of Nigeria, the Defence Headquarters has reported significant successes, including the neutralization of 121 terrorists, the apprehension of 253 suspects, and the rescue of 244 kidnapped hostages.

Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed these achievements during a briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

In the North East region, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 52 terrorists, arrested 137 suspects, and rescued 78 hostages. Additionally, they recovered a cache of weapons, including rifles and ammunition.

In the North Central, operations led by Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke resulted in the killing of 47 terrorists, the arrest of 17 suspects, and the rescue of four kidnap victims.

In the North West, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 62 terrorists, arrested 12 others, and rescued 162 hostages. They also seized weapons and ammunition from the insurgents.

The air component of Operation Hadarin Daji conducted successful air interdictions on terrorist enclaves in Katsina State, destroying their hideouts and logistical bases.

In the Niger Delta, troops of Operation Delta Safe recovered stolen crude oil and seized illegal refining equipment, boats, and vehicles. They also apprehended suspected oil thieves and violent extremists.

In the South East, operations led to the arrest of suspected violent extremists, the raiding of IPOB/ESN camps, and the neutralization of terrorists. Significant quantities of weapons and ammunition were recovered during these operations.

All seized items, arrested suspects, and rescued hostages have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
