Nigerian Musician Portable Released from Police Custody Following Luxury Car Payment Dispute

Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from the custody of the Lagos State Police Command after being forcefully arrested earlier this week. The arrest stemmed from an alleged dispute over payment for his luxury car, a G-Wagon.

Portable, recognized for hits like ‘Zazzu,’ found himself in hot water when he reportedly failed to complete payment for a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 purchased from Ogunsanwo Temitope, also known as Temmy Autos, a car dealer based in Lagos. Despite the vehicle’s value of N27 million, Portable had only paid N13 million, leaving a balance of N14 million unsettled.

Confirming the release, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, informed Vanguard on Wednesday evening that Portable had been granted bail. However, Hundeyin did not provide details regarding the resolution of the payment issue, stating, “I have no idea about it but what I can say is that he has been granted bail.
