Nigerian Government Commends Team Nigeria’s Performance at 13th African Games

The Federal Government has praised the exceptional performance of Team Nigeria at the recently concluded 13th African Games in Ghana.

Team Nigeria secured the second position on the medal table, trailing behind Egypt, with an impressive haul of 47 gold, 33 silver, and 40 bronze medals.

Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s congratulatory message to the athletes in Abuja on Sunday. He lauded their commendable performance and described it as a source of pride for the nation.

“On behalf of His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, GCFR, I welcome you back to our dear country. I congratulate you for your outstanding performance in the just concluded 13th African Games that was held in the Republic of Ghana,” Senator Enoh stated.

He emphasized the need for immediate preparations for the 14th African Games scheduled to take place in Egypt in 2027, aiming to enhance Nigeria’s performance compared to the recent event in Ghana.

“While you bask in the euphoria of your exploits and worthy sense of achievement, let me quickly remind you that preparations for the 14th African Games, set to hold in Egypt, start now. As your Sports Development Minister, dubbed Nigeria’s GamesMaster General, I sure will be with you all the way,” Senator Enoh added.

Furthermore, the minister assured the athletes that the Ministry of Sports Development would continue to prioritize their welfare in alignment with international standards and best practices.

Nigeria competed in 25 out of 29 sports alongside 52 other countries, showcasing the nation’s commitment to excellence and sporting prowess on the African continent.
