Lagos-based hyper-realism artist and doctor, Fola David, has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual. David aimed to create a 1000 square meter artwork showcasing Nigeria’s diverse cultures, beginning his six-day endeavor on July 16 at Onikan Stadium.
On Friday night, David announced on social media that he had surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters on Day 4 at 9 pm, achieving 689 square meters so far, with the ultimate goal of covering over 1000 square meters of canvas.
Prominent Nigerians, including 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci, and notable businessman Farooq Oreagba, have visited David to show their support. Additionally, the College of Medicine University of Lagos, where David is an alumnus, has expressed its support for his remarkable achievement.
