Nigerian Army Rescues 28 Hostages, Arrests Arms Supplier in Anti-Terror Operations

Nigerian Army troops have successfully rescued 28 hostages in two separate operations against terrorists in Borno and Kaduna states. The military launched an offensive in Gwoza, Borno State, engaging terrorists hiding in the Mandara mountains and freeing 24 captives. During the raid, troops recovered several weapons, including ammunition, an AK-47 rifle magazine, and a dane gun.

In a parallel operation in Kaduna State, troops stormed a kidnappers’ den in Kabode village, rescuing four victims and recovering additional weapons. One criminal was neutralized during the assault, while others fled the scene. The operation also led to the recovery of motorcycles and mobile phones used by the criminals.

The Army further announced the arrest of a notorious arms courier transporting weapons for insurgents in Gidan Dogo forest, Kaduna. Intelligence from the arrest helped capture eight more individuals involved in the crime, as the military seized a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and magazines.

In Plateau State, troops detained two suspects in a raid on a criminal hideout in Riyom Local Government Area and recovered rustled cattle believed to have been stolen during the recent Mangu crisis.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the troops for their resilience and ongoing collaboration with security agencies in the fight against terrorism and criminality.
