In a landmark decision, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has promoted Second Lieutenant Oluchukwu Owowoh to the rank of Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army. This promotion was announced by the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Wednesday via a statement on X.com.
The promotion ceremony took place on June 26, 2024, at the Nigerian Defence Academy Officer’s Mess and Golf Club. NDA Commandant Major General JO Ochai praised Lieutenant Owowoh’s exceptional track record, noting her distinction as the first Nigerian female officer trained at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.
“The track record of excellence of Lt. Owowoh as a cadet accorded her the rare privilege of becoming the first female Nigerian to be trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst,” the NDA statement read. The event was attended by senior military officers, academic and non-academic staff, family members, and other dignitaries.
