Nigerian Army Neutralizes Four Terrorists, Thwarts Kidnap Attempt in Multi-State Offensive

On Friday, Nigerian Army troops dealt a significant blow to terrorism and criminal activities in Zamfara, Taraba, and Kogi states, neutralizing four terrorists and foiling a kidnapping attempt.

In Taraba State, troops engaged terrorists in parts of Bali Local Government Area, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists. Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, disclosed that credible intelligence led to the operation targeting terrorists terrorizing residents of Mayinawa, Garin Daniel, and Garbatau. The offensive yielded two AK47 rifles, four AK47 magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition recovered from the insurgents.

Simultaneously, troops conducted a successful raid on a kidnappers’ den in Kuyambana area, Magawa-Migetso Road, Zamfara State. Two insurgents were neutralized in the encounter, and the troops seized various weapons and items including a pump action gun, locally-fabricated gun, live cartridges, a locally-made pistol, and communication devices. The camp utilized for criminal activities was destroyed following the operation.

Additionally, the Nigerian Army thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Kogi State, where criminals attacked passengers onboard three commercial buses on Akpata-Obajana Road, Lokoja Local Government Area. Swift action by the troops led to the rescue of the passengers and engagement with the criminals in a hot pursuit, ensuring the safety of the victims.
