Nigeria Seeks Enhanced Partnership with EU to Combat Malnutrition

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called for a stronger partnership between Nigeria and the European Union (EU) to address malnutrition and other humanitarian challenges. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the outgoing EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima praised the EU’s contributions, particularly in the North East and North West regions.

Shettima emphasized Nigeria’s growing global significance, noting its projected population growth and the importance of continued EU engagement in the country’s development. He commended Ambassador Isopi’s efforts in fostering EU-Nigeria relations, highlighting her role in key humanitarian initiatives and political processes, including the recent transition of government.

Ambassador Isopi reflected on her three-year tenure, acknowledging the progress made in Nigeria during her time. She expressed pride in the collaboration between the EU and Nigeria, particularly in areas such as peace, security, education, and economic development. She also reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s efforts in addressing humanitarian and development challenges, particularly in the education and health sectors.
