Nigeria Mourns the Passing of Comic Icons Mr. Ibu and Sisi Quadr

The Nigerian entertainment industry and the nation as a whole are in mourning following the untimely passing of two beloved comic actors, John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, and Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, fondly called Sisi Quadri. President Bola Tinubu expressed deep sadness at their demise, recognizing the joy and relief they brought to millions through their talent.

Presidential candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar joined in mourning, acknowledging the significant loss to both the entertainment industry and the nation. Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa also extended condolences, emphasizing the impact of Mr. Ibu’s contributions to the entertainment landscape.

Atiku Abubakar reflected on the invaluable role played by both Mr. Ibu and ex-Super Falcons goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko Olaseni, lamenting their departure from the creative and sports arenas. Similarly, Peter Obi expressed sorrow over Mr. Ibu’s passing, highlighting his legendary status and the joy he brought to audiences.
