New Arsenal Signing Mikel Merino Sidelined After Training Injury

Arsenal’s new signing Mikel Merino will be out for a “few weeks” after sustaining a shoulder injury during his first training session with the club. The Spaniard, who joined the Gunners from Real Sociedad for £31.6m on Tuesday, collided with a teammate, resulting in a small fracture.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment over the incident, saying, “He was really excited and everything was looking really good. He landed on the floor and Gabi landed on top of him, and it looks like he has a small fracture probably.”

The injury comes as a setback for the 28-year-old midfielder, who was eager to start his journey with the club. Arsenal, who have won both of their opening Premier League fixtures, are set to face Brighton at the Emirates on Saturday.

Merino’s absence will be felt, but Arteta remains hopeful about the team’s performance as they aim to maintain their perfect start to the season.
