The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has called off its industrial action following a productive meeting with the Federal Government on Monday. The decision to suspend operations came after NARTO members initiated a strike on Monday, citing concerns over the exorbitant cost of diesel needed to fuel their trucks for transporting petroleum products nationwide.
The suspension of the industrial action brings relief to many as NARTO’s absence has disrupted logistics and supply chains, particularly in the transportation of petroleum products across the country.
The high cost of diesel, reaching between N1,250 to N1,400 per liter according to oil marketers, has been a recurring challenge for NARTO members, significantly impacting their operational costs and profitability.
While the specific outcomes of the meeting between NARTO and the Federal Government have yet to be disclosed, the decision to suspend the strike indicates progress in addressing the concerns raised by the association.
