Three individuals narrowly escaped death on Monday in a car accident at the Ibafo area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident, which occurred around 3:20 pm, involved a truck with registration number KNN-140YL, which experienced brake failure and veered into the premises of Amuf Oil Filling Station beside the Ibafo Police Station.
Fortunately, no lives were lost in the accident. The truck collided with two parked trailer trucks and a motorcycle, with the rider managing to flee without sustaining any injuries. Passers-by, commuters, and police officers came to the rescue, helping the driver and passenger who had fractured legs due to the impact of the accident. Eyewitnesses recounted how a towing vehicle was used to extricate the trapped driver from the truck before both individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The motorcyclist involved in the incident described how he narrowly avoided being hit by the truck as it careened into the filling station due to brake failure. He expressed gratitude that the parked trucks provided some barrier, preventing further casualties.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, stated that she was not aware of the incident but promised to provide further details once available.
