Popular Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has addressed the growing controversy surrounding her upcoming film, “Blood Brothers.” Calls for the film’s ban intensified after Isime posted a movie poster featuring herself in a niqab while holding a gun, sparking outrage among Muslim communities on social media.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) expressed their disapproval, criticizing Isime for wearing the niqab during a robbery scene. They urged the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to prohibit the film’s release, citing disrespect towards religious symbols.
In what appeared to be a cryptic response on Instagram, Isime emphasized her dedication to personal goals and inner peace. She wrote, “Really out of the way. In my own world. No drama or gossip. Just goals and money. Peace is where I’m at.”
Addressing the criticism, she continued, “I don’t bother nobody and I’m not bothered by nobody. To protect my peace, I stopped taking other people’s projected opinions personal. Reminder: Your light often highlights other people’s insecurities & shortcomings, which they will then project back to you as a flaw. It is a coping mechanism. Attacking you makes them feel safer.”
She concluded with a confident note, stating, “Isime baby, omo ologo 5g. The brightest light. The city on a hill that can never be hidden. Nancy Isime. Big name with big force. Getting talked about does not faze me. Look at the people who are talking.
