Minamino Shines as Monaco Crush Red Star Belgrade

Monaco midfielder Takumi Minamino scored twice as his side continued their strong start to the Champions League with a 5-1 thrashing of winless Red Star Belgrade. Minamino opened the scoring in the 20th minute, beating the offside trap to give Monaco an early lead.

Red Star responded when Cherif Ndiaye converted a penalty seven minutes later after being fouled by Thilo Kehrer. However, Monaco regained control just before halftime with Breel Embolo’s goal in stoppage time, and Wilfried Singo extended their lead with a stunning 30-yard strike to make it 3-1.

Despite having another goal ruled out for handball and Maghnes Akliouche hitting the post, Monaco continued their dominance. Minamino added his second goal in the 70th minute, and Akliouche sealed the rout with a fifth in the final seconds. Aleksandr Golovin also struck the post late on.

Monaco, having beaten Barcelona in their opener, remain unbeaten with two wins and a draw, while Red Star Belgrade remain winless and will face Barcelona next.
