Memphis Depay Signs with Corinthians on Two-Year Deal After Atletico Madrid Exit

Dutch forward Memphis Depay has signed a two-year contract with Brazilian club Corinthians, committing to the team until December 2026. The 30-year-old joined the club as a free agent after leaving Atlético Madrid in July. During his time with Atlético, Depay made 31 appearances and netted nine goals.

Depay represented the Netherlands at Euro 2024 but was not included in the squad for September’s Nations League matches by head coach Ronald Koeman. However, Koeman indicated that Depay’s move to Brazil does not rule out future international appearances, unlike his stance on Steven Bergwijn’s move to the Saudi Pro League.

“I disapproved of Steven Bergwijn’s move to Saudi, with Memphis it can be different,” Koeman said, adding that Depay’s inclusion in the national team will depend on his fitness and performance in Brazil’s competitive league.

Depay, who began his career at PSV Eindhoven, has had stints at Manchester United, Lyon, and Barcelona before joining Atlético Madrid in 2023. He has earned 98 caps for the Netherlands, scoring 46 goals since his debut in 2013.
