Mbappe and Vinicius Secure Real Madrid’s Win Over Real Sociedad in La Liga Thriller

Kylian Mbappe scored his third goal in two games as Real Madrid edged out a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at Reale Arena. The French star netted a second-half penalty to help Madrid maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Mbappe, who opened his La Liga account before the international break, confidently dispatched the spot-kick after Jon Aramburu fouled Vinicius Jr in the box. This came after Vinicius himself had opened the scoring for Madrid in the 58th minute, also from the penalty spot, following Sergio Gomez’s handball off an Arda Guler shot.

Vinicius’ goal marked his second of the season, but Sociedad might have felt hard done by, as they struck the woodwork three times. Luka Susic, with a powerful 25th-minute shot, and Sheraldo Becker both hit the crossbar in the first half, while Susic clipped the post early in the second half with a well-placed effort.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could only watch as Sociedad’s shots came agonizingly close. Despite Sociedad’s near-misses, Madrid held firm, with Mbappe’s penalty sealing the victory.

England’s Jude Bellingham missed the match due to a calf injury, though he has resumed training. Despite the win, Madrid remain a point behind leaders Barcelona, having played one game more.
