Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard suffered an ankle injury during Norway’s 2-1 Nations League win over Austria, with Erling Haaland scoring a late winner. Ødegaard was forced to leave the field after a challenge from Christoph Baumgartner in the second half.
Norwegian team officials have confirmed it as a small ankle sprain. Norway coach Stale Solbakken expressed concern about Ødegaard’s condition, noting, “It looked painful in the locker room,” while team doctor Ola Sand mentioned the possibility of further scans if needed.
Ødegaard’s injury could impact his availability for Arsenal’s north London derby against Tottenham on Sunday, especially as the Gunners are already missing Declan Rice due to suspension. After the derby, Arsenal will face Atalanta in the Champions League on 19 September, followed by a clash against Manchester City at the Etihad on 22 September.
In the match, Haaland’s late goal capped off a dramatic encounter, with Norway’s Felix Myhre and Austria’s Marcel Sabitzer exchanging first-half goals before Haaland’s decisive finish.
