Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag Confirms Club’s Desire to Retain Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reiterated the club’s intention to keep hold of captain Bruno Fernandes following the midfielder’s expressed desire to remain at Old Trafford.

Amidst speculation linking Fernandes with potential moves to Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, the Portuguese playmaker affirmed his commitment to Manchester United in a post-match interview after his standout performance in their 3-2 Premier League victory over Newcastle.

“I will be here if the club wants me to be a part of the future,” Fernandes stated. “If for some reason they don’t want me, I will go.”

Ten Hag affirmed the club’s stance, stating, “Absolutely the club wants to keep Bruno.” However, he acknowledged the need to review Fernandes’ interview to understand his comments fully.

The Dutch manager emphasized Fernandes’ love for Manchester United, its fans, and the privilege of representing the club. Despite ongoing speculation, Fernandes remains under contract for two more years, with an option for an additional season beyond that.

Fernandes has been instrumental for Manchester United this season, contributing 10 Premier League goals and providing crucial assists. Despite facing challenges, including injuries to key players, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication and leadership on the pitch.

“He always gives his best and is an example to everyone, even with his injuries,” praised Ten Hag. “He loves football and he wants to win.”
