Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea in Race for Benfica’s Joao Neves

Premier League giants Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all set to compete for the signature of Benfica’s highly-rated youngster, Joao Neves, in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Having impressed with his performances for Benfica, Neves has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe. Manchester United have been monitoring the 19-year-old for some time, and now Liverpool have entered the race, according to reports from O Jogo (via Sport Witness). Chelsea are also reportedly keen on securing the talented midfielder’s services.

However, any potential move for Neves may come with a significant price tag. It is understood that Benfica has set a release clause for Neves at €120 million (£102m/£130m), making negotiations challenging for the interested clubs.

Despite Benfica’s desire to retain Neves, the player himself has not committed his future to the club, fueling speculation about a potential departure in the summer transfer window. Benfica, on the other hand, reportedly aims to raise Neves’s release clause to €150 million (£128m/$162m) in an attempt to fend off interest from suitors.

Neves has been a regular feature in the Portuguese top flight this season, showcasing his talent with three goals and two assists in 27 appearances.
