Manchester City Advance to FA Cup Semi-Finals with Comfortable Win over Newcastle United

Manchester City secured their spot in the FA Cup semi-finals with a comfortable victory over Newcastle United, as Bernardo Silva’s brace, aided by heavy deflections, sealed the win for the reigning champions.

Silva proved to be the difference-maker in the quarter-final clash, scoring two goals in the first half, with both shots deflecting heavily before finding the back of the net, leaving Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka with no chance of saving them.

Despite a few early challenges from Eddie Howe’s side, City remained in control after Dan Burn inadvertently turned Silva’s strike into his own net, giving the hosts a significant advantage.

Although City dominated possession, they struggled to add to their lead in the second half, with Erling Haaland failing to make much of an impact aside from one missed opportunity that narrowly went wide of the post.

While Haaland couldn’t replicate his previous FA Cup heroics against Luton Town, where he scored five goals, he will have another opportunity to shine in the semi-finals at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

The victory sees Manchester City continuing their pursuit of further success, while Newcastle United’s season ends without any silverware and the disappointment of missing out on European football.
