Bayer Leverkusen bounced back in style from their defeat by RB Leipzig with a commanding 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim. After their 35-match unbeaten league streak was snapped on 31 August, the Bundesliga champions responded emphatically.
Martin Terrier opened the scoring, finishing off a square pass from Victor Boniface, who later doubled the lead with a powerful low strike. Hoffenheim’s Mergim Berisha pulled one back before the break, but Leverkusen maintained control in the second half.
Florian Wirtz restored the visitors’ two-goal advantage from the penalty spot after Dennis Geiger fouled Alejandro Grimaldo. Boniface then capped off the win with his second goal, cutting inside and delivering a clinical finish past goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.
This victory extends Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga away run to 19 games, just behind Bayern Munich’s record of 33 matches from 2012 to 2014.
