Leicester City Signs Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace on Two-Year Deal

Leicester City has bolstered its attacking lineup by signing Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace on a two-year contract. The initial fee for the 32-year-old is reported to be £5 million, with the potential to rise to £8 million based on add-ons.

Ayew, who spent six years with Crystal Palace, initially joining on loan in 2018, has made 212 appearances and scored 23 goals for the club. His move to Leicester comes after he featured as a second-half substitute in Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Sunday.

Leicester City manager Steve Cooper had expressed the need to enhance his forward options, and Ayew’s arrival fulfills that requirement. The Foxes have also recently signed midfielder Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur for £20 million, further strengthening their squad.

“I’m very happy to be here and I’m proud. I want to thank the club as they fought hard to bring me here – it happened quickly and I’m so happy to be here,” Ayew said after completing the move. “As a player, when you hear that the manager wants you, it just makes you want to come and work under him and to try to improve. Even though I’m 32, as a player you always want to learn and improve. I’m here to work hard and help the team achieve their targets.”

Leicester City, who were promoted to the Premier League this season, began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, with veteran striker Jamie Vardy scoring the equalizer. The Foxes will face Fulham in their next league match on Saturday.
