The family of the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has revealed the burial arrangements for the beloved entertainer. Following his passing and a battle with an undisclosed illness that led to the amputation of his leg, the family has announced that Mr Ibu will be laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri, located in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In a statement jointly signed by Mr Ibu’s brother, Elder Sunday Okafor, the family expressed their intention to honor the memory of the late actor in a manner befitting his legacy. The burial ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 28th of June 2024.
The statement invites friends, family, and well-wishers to join in commemorating Mr Ibu’s life and legacy. The burial activities are set to span five days, commencing on Tuesday, June 25th, with a high-profile novelty match. On Wednesday, June 26th, there will be a special event named “Mr Ibu’s Night,” featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment.
The program continues on June 27th with a Christian Wake held at Mr Ibu’s compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West. The funeral service itself is scheduled for June 28th, marking the culmination of the burial ceremonies.
The final day of the event, June 30th, will be dedicated to a Church Thanksgiving service, providing an opportunity for family members, friends, and well-wishers to offer their gratitude and bid farewell to the late actor.
