The Lagos State Police Command has successfully thwarted a staged kidnapping plot and apprehended four individuals involved in the scheme. According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects were arrested following a thorough investigation into the reported abduction.
The statement reveals that Margret Itodo (25), Agnes Ogbeh (23), Esther Anyanwu (24), and Anthony Chinakwe (24) orchestrated the fake kidnapping of Agnes Ogbeh, a resident of Akure who had traveled to Lagos. The family received a distressing video purportedly showing Agnes and another individual bound, gagged, and injured, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N5 million for her release.
Upon receiving the complaint, detectives launched a discreet investigation and swiftly located the supposed hideout where Agnes and the other individual were found unharmed, living freely with two others. Further inquiry uncovered that Margaret Itodo, a professional makeup artist, was hired to make the video appear authentic.
All four suspects have confessed to their involvement in the staged kidnapping and will face charges at the conclusion of the investigation.
