Lagos Police Criticize Singer Ayo Maff for Promoting Drug Use in New Song

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has publicly condemned rising singer Ayo Maff for the “indecent” lyrics in his latest track, ‘Last Week.’ The song’s opening verse describes the singer’s use of “Canadian Loud,” a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, from the start of the week and his need to contact his dealer by Saturday.

Reacting to a viral snippet of the song on social media platform X, SP Hundeyin voiced his concerns about the lyrics, emphasizing the correlation between drug abuse and crime. He stated, “Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs is a precursor to everything bad.”

Hundeyin’s comments highlight the ongoing issues of drug abuse and its impact on youth crime rates, urging for a more responsible portrayal of substance use in popular culture.
