Lagos Assembly Approves Reordering of N2.27 Trillion 2024 Budget

The Lagos State House of Assembly has approved an amendment to the 2024 Appropriation Law, maintaining the budget size at N2,267,976,120,869. This adjustment follows a letter from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu dated August 9, 2024, requesting the reordering due to rising inflation and pressing infrastructure needs.

During the plenary session, Chairman of the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Lukman Olumoh, presented the committee’s report, which was adopted by the House. The reordering reduced recurrent expenditure from N952.43 billion to N935.38 billion, while capital expenditure increased from N1.32 trillion to N1.33 trillion.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa confirmed the bill’s passage, instructing the Clerk, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, to forward it to the Governor for assent.
