Kylian Mbappe Sidelined with Thigh Injury Following Real Madrid’s 3-2 Victory Over Alaves

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is set for a spell on the sidelines due to a thigh injury. The France international, who joined the Spanish giants this summer after leaving Paris St-Germain, picked up the injury during Real Madrid’s 3-2 win against Deportivo Alaves on Tuesday, where he scored before being substituted in the 80th minute.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti downplayed the injury post-match, stating, “He’s fine – a little overloaded. He asked me for the change to avoid problems.”

However, tests on Wednesday confirmed that Mbappe has sustained an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. The club stated that his “progress will be monitored” as he begins recovery.

This injury puts Mbappe’s participation in upcoming key fixtures in doubt, with Real Madrid facing Atletico Madrid in a league match on Sunday, followed by a Champions League clash against Lille and another league game against Villarreal before the October international break.

Mbappe had been in excellent form, scoring six goals in seven games for Real Madrid prior to the injury.
