Kylian Mbappe Scores First La Liga Goals in Real Madrid’s Win Over Real Betis

Kylian Mbappe opened his La Liga account with a brace as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory against Real Betis. The French forward, who joined Madrid this summer from Paris Saint-Germain, scored his first goal by calmly finishing Federico Valverde’s backheel pass past goalkeeper Rui Silva. He later added a second from the penalty spot after Silva fouled Vinicius Jr., sending the keeper the wrong way.

Despite failing to score in his previous three La Liga matches, Mbappe’s persistence paid off, with his first goal coming from his 25th shot of the season—more attempts than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues. His penalty, which followed shortly after, was his 26th shot.

Real Betis had early opportunities to take the lead, with Abde Ezzalzouli heading wide from close range and Vitor Roque, on loan from Barcelona, forcing a save with his first touch off the bench. However, Real Madrid also created several chances, with Eder Militao and Valverde testing Silva, and Vinicius Jr. hitting the post with a deflected shot.

With this win, Madrid remain unbeaten after four league games but are still four points behind leaders Barcelona. Meanwhile, Betis have struggled, earning only one point from their opening three matches.
