The Kwara State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, accusing him of governing the state “via WhatsApp messages” and neglecting vital road projects. In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, the party expressed disappointment in the governor’s priorities and urged him to focus on addressing the state’s immediate concerns.
The PDP highlighted the governor’s purported emphasis on the Lagos-Calabar road project during a recent meeting with the President, suggesting a diversion of attention from critical infrastructural needs within Kwara State. The party criticized AbdulRazaq for allegedly prioritizing non-Kwara projects over the state’s road infrastructure, which it described as deplorable and vital for residents and businesses.
Expressing concern over what it perceives as a governance vacuum, the PDP called on Governor AbdulRazaq to return to Kwara State and prioritize its development. The party lamented the alleged disconnect between the governor’s activities at the national level and the real needs of his constituents, citing the absence of Kwara State from the list of beneficiaries of federal interventions.
Furthermore, the PDP accused the governor of governing the state remotely, relying on WhatsApp messages and fake photos to convey his administration’s actions. It urged AbdulRazaq to focus on addressing the state’s infrastructural and developmental needs, rather than being preoccupied with national-level engagements.
Efforts to obtain a response from the state government regarding the allegations made by the opposition party were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, went unanswered.
