Kogi State Commissioner Denies Governor Ododo Shielded Yahaya Bello from EFCC Arrest

Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information in Kogi State, refuted claims that Governor Usman Ododo shielded former Governor Yahaya Bello from arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Fanwo asserted that Governor Ododo is committed to upholding the country’s laws and respecting legal processes.

Fanwo clarified that Governor Ododo did not facilitate Bello’s departure from his residence during the EFCC’s attempted arrest, dismissing the agency’s assertions as misinformation aimed at advancing their agenda. He emphasized that Bello is not avoiding arrest and is protected by a court injunction safeguarding his fundamental rights.

Rejecting the EFCC’s allegations as unfounded, Fanwo criticized the agency’s certainty regarding Bello’s whereabouts and labeled their claims as part of an orchestrated disinformation campaign. He reiterated that Bello is not evading arrest and emphasized the state high court injunction shielding him from harassment by the anti-graft agency.
