Kieran Trippier Eyes Newcastle Exit Amidst Struggles for First-Team Football

Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is reportedly seeking a move away from the club this month as he hunts for regular first-team opportunities. The 33-year-old England international, who was left on the bench during Newcastle’s narrow 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday, is struggling to secure his place in the starting lineup.

Trippier, who joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in 2022, finds himself playing second fiddle to former Southampton right-back Tino Livramento. The competition for the right-back position has intensified, leading Trippier to consider his future elsewhere.

Earlier this year, Newcastle blocked the defender’s potential transfer following interest from Bayern Munich and clubs in Saudi Arabia. However, with the summer transfer window still open, Trippier is now being linked with a move to Everton, where he could reunite with former Burnley manager Sean Dyche.

When asked about the rumors in a recent press conference, Dyche acknowledged the speculation, stating, “He’s one of many names that has come up here. As if by magic, his name comes up when we don’t have a right-back available.”

Everton’s need for a right-back has become more pressing following Ashley Young’s suspension due to a red card in their defeat to Brighton. This could pave the way for Trippier’s potential move to Goodison Park.

Despite his current situation at Newcastle, Trippier remains a significant figure on the international stage, having earned 54 caps for England. He was a key player in England’s Euro 2024 campaign, starting in the first six matches before being replaced by Luke Shaw in the final.
