Katsina Police Arrest Three Suspected Gunrunners, Seize Ammunition Cache

The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in gunrunning activities. The arrests were made in the early hours of August 29 in Dutsina Local Government Area, according to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu.

During the operation, police officers recovered 740 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, which the suspects were allegedly attempting to deliver to armed bandits in Yauni Forest, Ummadau Village, Safana LGA of Katsina State. The suspects reportedly received the ammunition from an associate in Nasarawa State, intended for delivery to a notorious bandit leader known as Harisu, who remains at large.

Aliyu stated that the suspects have confessed to their roles in the crime, further implicating Harisu as the operation’s mastermind. The police are continuing their investigation and are committed to capturing additional suspects linked to the case.

“This achievement demonstrates our commitment to combating armed banditry and gunrunning in Katsina State and beyond,” Aliyu affirmed.
