In a significant turn of events, the Kano State High Court, under the leadership of Justice Usman Na’Abba, has overturned the suspension of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The suspension, which was initially affirmed by the court following a motion filed by Laminu Sani and Haladu Gwanjo, members of the Ganduje ward executive, has now been reversed based on new evidence presented before the court.
Justice Na’Abba cited a Motion Ex-Parte, accompanied by a supporting affidavit and written address, as the basis for his decision to reverse the earlier order suspending Ganduje. The motion, dated April 22, 2024, was submitted by Glory Adah, a litigation secretary in the solicitors’ law firm representing the fourth respondent in the case.
Following the hearing, during which counsel representing the fourth respondent/applicant presented arguments, Justice Na’Abba granted an interim injunction to stay the execution of the previous order suspending Ganduje. This injunction directs parties to maintain the status quo ante as of April 15, 2024, regarding Ganduje’s suspension by the Ganduje Ward Executive Committee.
