Kano Police Arrest 35 Suspects for Various Crimes

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 35 suspects over the past month in connection with a range of criminal activities, including armed robbery, kidnapping, theft, drug dealing, and fraud. This was revealed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, during a briefing at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano, on Monday.

Kiyawa provided details on the items recovered from the suspects, which included stolen vehicles, solar batteries, mobile phones, and counterfeit currency.

One notable case involved the arrest of five armed robbery suspects on August 12, linked to a robbery at Hotoro Quarters in Kano. The police recovered a motor vehicle and a locally made gun from the suspects. In another significant operation, two suspected kidnappers were apprehended on July 18, and two victims were rescued from a deep forest in Gubuchi Village, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Additional arrests included five suspected thieves in Warawa Local Government Area on August 27, with the recovery of five solar batteries. Two more armed robbers were arrested on August 26 in Dorayi Quarters, Kano, with a sharp knife and a stolen mobile phone seized during the operation.

The police also arrested three suspected drug dealers on August 26 in Yan-tagwage Quarters, Kano, recovering 98 pieces of Exol tablets and a block of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

SP Kiyawa reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Police Command to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
