Kaduna Schoolchildren Rescued: Governor Warns Against Politicization of Security

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, cautioned against politicizing security issues following the successful rescue of 137 schoolchildren from Government Secondary School in Chikun Local Government Area. The children were abducted on March 7, 2024, by terrorists, with one staff member tragically losing his life during captivity.

Major-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, disclosed that six rescued students were hospitalized, with five females and one male currently receiving medical attention. He credited the rescue operation to sustained efforts by security agencies, guided by President Bola Tinubu through the National Security Adviser’s office.

Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s support throughout the ordeal and urged against spreading misinformation about the rescue operation. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing security, cautioning against undermining security agencies’ efforts and politicizing security matters.

The governor commended Nigerians for their prayers and support and reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property. He urged the media and society to celebrate the children’s release without speculating on the rescue operation’s details.
