Kaduna Revenue Service Warns Against Fraudulent Tax Collectors

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has issued a warning to residents about the presence of fraudulent individuals posing as tax collectors. Mr. Jery Adams, the Executive Chairman of KADIRS, raised the alarm during a press conference on Friday in Kaduna, cautioning the public to remain vigilant against these impostors.

Adams revealed that certain groups and individuals, operating in strategic areas of the state, were falsely claiming to be authorized by KADIRS to collect taxes, levies, and fines. He described these actors as part of a coordinated cartel involved in criminal activities aimed at deceiving unsuspecting residents.

“These individuals or groups are not affiliated with KADIRS. We have not authorized anyone besides our official channels to act on our behalf,” Adams emphasized, urging residents to avoid engaging with such impostors.

KADIRS has already begun apprehending those involved in these illegal activities and is committed to eradicating the menace. Adams also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity involving unauthorized tax collection.

Furthermore, Adams disclosed the discovery of fake number plates and tax clearance certificates circulating across the state, a scam allegedly orchestrated in collaboration with some staff members of KADIRS. He vowed that the service would take strict action against any employees found complicit in these fraudulent activities.

“No payments should be made to private accounts or individuals. All official payments must go through approved KADIRS channels, including designated banks or our digital platforms,” Adams reiterated.

KADIRS remains committed to upholding transparency, integrity, and accountability in its operations, urging taxpayers to ensure that all transactions are conducted through the proper channels.
