Jorja Smith Praises Burna Boy’s Creative Process in Studio Collaboration

British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith has shared her admiration for working with Grammy-winning Nigerian star Burna Boy, describing their collaboration as “sick” and highlighting Burna Boy’s unique approach to songwriting.

During an interview with Afrobeats Villa, Smith expressed awe at Burna Boy’s ability to freestyle his songs in the studio rather than writing them down. She revealed that Burna Boy would continuously freestyle until the lyrics coalesced into a cohesive composition.

“Working with Burna Boy is sick. He was just freestyling whatever was coming to him over and over again until it made sense,” Smith said, reflecting on her experience collaborating with the ‘African Giant’ crooner.

Smith and Burna Boy have previously joined forces on hit tracks like ‘Be Honest’ and ‘Gum Body,’ both of which are featured on Burna Boy’s acclaimed 2019 album, ‘African Giant.’ Their successful collaborations have showcased their chemistry and musical synergy, earning praise from fans and critics alike.
