Joann Kelly, daughter of renowned American singer R. Kelly, has accused her father of sexually abusing her as a child. In a new two-part documentary series titled *Karma: A Daughter’s Journey* on the TVEI Streaming Network, Joann revealed that she first reported the alleged abuse to her mother, Drea, in 2009.
Now 26, Joann did not go into detail about the abuse but stated that her father’s jail sentence is well deserved. “My father was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t want to believe that it happened,” she shared in the documentary. She explained how the experience drastically changed her life, adding, “I was too scared to tell anybody. I was too scared to tell my mom.”
Joann also mentioned that after confiding in her mother, she and her siblings, Robert and Jaah, stopped visiting their father.
In response to the documentary, R. Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, publicly denied the allegations.
