Investigation Ordered Into Fatal Stampede During Palliative Distribution at Nasarawa State University

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has called for an immediate investigation into a tragic stampede that resulted in the loss of two lives at Nasarawa State University, Keffi. The incident occurred during the distribution of palliatives initiated by the state government.

According to reports, the distribution venue, NSUK convocation square, became overcrowded, leading to suffocation and injuries among the students. Two female students tragically lost their lives, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Expressing his condolences, Governor Sule stated, “I pray their souls rest in peace. Our thoughts and condolences go to their families and friends at this moment of grief. These young people’s lives cut short at their prime under such circumstances is painful.”

The governor has directed the authorities of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and security agencies to promptly investigate the incident and identify those responsible.

Additionally, the state deputy governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, visited the injured students to offer support and assistance.
