Investigation Launched into Patient’s Death Amid Ward Disruption at Osun State University Teaching Hospital

The management of Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a patient following an unrest in the female ward.

According to sources within the hospital, the unrest occurred late on Monday and allegedly involved a man who lost control of his emotions upon learning of the death of a patient believed to be his mother. Eyewitnesses reported that the man’s emotional distress led to disruption within the ward, resulting in the death of another patient.

Prof. Peter Olaitan, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, confirmed the incident, stating that while a patient did indeed die during the disruption, the deceased was not on life support, and the man involved did not directly attack the patient. He further stated that investigations are underway to determine the sequence of events.
