Inter Milan earned their first Champions League win of the season with a dominant 4-0 triumph over Red Star Belgrade. Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a perfectly placed free-kick that curled in off the post.
Former Premier League striker Marko Arnautovic doubled Inter’s lead in the 59th minute, finishing a move set up by Mehdi Taremi, who won possession high up the pitch. Taremi continued to be a menace, creating another goal in the 71st minute for substitute Lautaro Martinez, extending the home side’s advantage.
Taremi capped off his stellar performance by converting a penalty in the closing stages after Martinez was brought down in the box, securing a well-deserved goal for himself.
Inter, who had made seven changes from their Serie A win over Udinese, were in control throughout the match. After a goalless draw against Manchester City in their opener, this comprehensive victory puts them on track in their Champions League campaign.
Red Star Belgrade remain winless in the group stage, following their earlier 2-1 defeat to Benfica.
