Inter Miami kicked off their 2024 MLS campaign with a promising start, securing a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake in their season opener. Goals from Robert Taylor and Diego Gomez propelled the Herons to an early three points, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.
Despite lingering concerns regarding fitness, injuries, and defensive stability, Inter Miami put on a convincing display to clinch victory in their first match. Lionel Messi played a pivotal role in both goals, showcasing his class and influence on the pitch. Messi provided the assist for Taylor’s opener, while his partnership with Luis Suarez led to Gomez’s goal in the second half.
While the performance was not flawless, Inter Miami demonstrated resilience and determination to overcome their opponents. Although Real Salt Lake posed threats, particularly on the counter-attack, Inter Miami’s defense held firm to secure a clean sheet.
Although there are areas for improvement, Inter Miami’s victory serves as a solid foundation for the rest of the season. With the talent of Messi and his teammates, the team has the potential to compete at the highest level in MLS.
