INEC Issues Certificates of Return to Winners of Rerun and By-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificates of Return to the winners of Saturday’s rerun and by-elections conducted on February 3, 2024, across 26 states in Nigeria. Seven political parties secured seats in both the National and State Houses of Assembly: Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress, All Progressive Grand Alliance, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Peoples Democratic Party, and the Young Progressives Party.

The presentations were made by INEC national commissioners representing the states where the elections were conducted. Among them were Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, Baba Bila, Kudu Haruna, Sam Olumekun, Modibo Alkali, Kunle Ajayi, Kenneth Ukeagu, Abdullahi Zuru, and Rodah Gumus. Senators-elect who received their certificates at the INEC headquarters in Abuja include Prof. Anthony Okorie (Ebonyi South Senatorial District, APC), Pam Dachungyang (Plateau North Senatorial District, ADP), and Musa Mustapha (Yobe East Senatorial District, APC).

Similarly, members-elect of the House of Representatives were issued their certificates, including Ifeanyi Ozokwe (Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, YPP-Anambra), Clara Nnabuife (Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency, YPP-Anambra), Ehindero Babatunde (Akoko North East/Akoko North-West Federal Constituency, APC-Ondo), and Daniel Ago (Jos North/ Basa Federal Constituency, LP-Plateau).

Expressing their gratitude, Senator-elect Dachungyang expressed happiness at being made a senator and prayed for wisdom to face challenges. Representative-elect Ago emphasized tackling insecurity as a priority for Plateau State, aiming to restore peace and tourism. Senator-elect Okorie dedicated his victory to the people of Ebonyi South, pledging to be a good representative for them in the Senate.
