The Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the perpetrators responsible for the killing of four youths in the Abacheke community of the Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area. Gunmen dressed in military camouflage invaded the community on Friday, opening fire and resulting in the death of four youths, with one person injured.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has condemned the attack and deployed the Command Special Tactical Squad to collaborate with other security agencies to apprehend the suspects.
The attackers, operating on motorcycles, swiftly carried out the attack, firing sporadically and causing casualties among the residents. Despite the swift response from the Area Commander and tactical teams, four victims were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while one is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Okoye assured that intense operations are ongoing in the area, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The Commissioner urged the public, especially residents of Ohaji/Egbema, to provide any useful information that could aid the investigation.
CP Danjuma extended condolences to the families of the deceased and reaffirmed the commitment of the Police to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice. He urged collaborative efforts to combat violent crimes in the state and encouraged the public to report any relevant information to the authorities.
