In Osun State, a violent confrontation erupted between the Amotekun corps and local herdsmen, resulting in injuries to three Amotekun personnel. The clash, ignited by complaints from farmers in Kajola village, Atakumosa-West Local Government Area, about herdsmen damaging crops to feed their cattle, quickly escalated into a firefight.
Eyewitness Adio John reported that the herdsmen, upon noticing the approach of Amotekun operatives, prepared for combat. The attempt by the security personnel to apprehend the herdsmen sparked an intense exchange of gunfire, causing injuries to individuals on both sides.
Osun Amotekun’s Corp Commander, Bashir Adewinbi, confirmed the incident, stating, “Our men went to Kajola village to settle the rift between farmers and herders, but when they got there, the herders attacked them and shot at them. Our men had no other option than to shoot back at them.” He revealed that the police were involved and that one herdsman was arrested, though later released. Adewinbi assured that the wounded operatives are recovering.
