Granddaughter Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Late Nigerian Politician, Senator Abraham Adesanya

Tutu Abraham Adesanya, granddaughter of the late founding leader of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Senator Abraham Adesanya, has commemorated the 16th anniversary of her grandfather’s passing with a heartfelt tribute. In her emotional message shared on X on Saturday, Tutu fondly remembered the significant contributions of her grandfather to Nigerian politics and society.

Senator Abraham Adesanya, affectionately known as ‘Lalala’, was born on December 25, 1922, and passed away on April 27, 2008. He was a prominent Nigerian politician, lawyer, and activist, deeply respected among the Yoruba people for his unwavering commitment to democracy and the rights of his people.

In her tribute, Tutu described her grandfather as a tireless activist and champion of democracy and social justice. She highlighted his pivotal role as an Afenifere leader and National Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy, emphasizing his steadfastness in advocating for democratic ideals despite facing military persecution and assassination attempts.

Reflecting on Senator Adesanya’s legacy, Tutu expressed gratitude for the principles he instilled in her and many others, including the importance of civic engagement and the pursuit of justice and equality. She acknowledged his profound impact on her life and vowed to carry forward his spirit of activism and dedication to democracy.

Tutu concluded her tribute with a prayer for the repose of her grandfather’s soul and for his legacies to endure for generations to come. She expressed her belief that Senator Adesanya’s memories and legacy would forever be cherished and serve as a source of inspiration for a better Nigeria.
