Gov. Seyi Makinde Pledges Support for PDP’s Repositioning Efforts

IBADAN – Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has assured the National Working Committee (NWC) Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Illiya Damagum, of his full support in efforts to strengthen and reposition the party.

Makinde gave this assurance on Wednesday in Ibadan during the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of the Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standards. The governor expressed his commitment to working with the Damagum-led NWC, particularly in light of the challenges facing the party.

“Even if we have issues among ourselves, I don’t think this is the right time to fight,” Makinde said, emphasizing the importance of unity ahead of the Edo State governorship election. “We have an important election on Saturday in Edo State, and we should just rally around and deliver our candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.”

Addressing his absence from the PDP’s campaign grand finale in Benin, Makinde explained that he had pre-scheduled meetings in Finland and Sweden before the campaign date was announced. Despite his absence, he reiterated his strong backing for the Edo PDP candidate, urging Edo voters to support Dr. Ighodalo as their next governor.
